Uniting American Families Act, aka "H.R. 1024", aka "S. 424", aka UAFA However you say it, it's a good thing and I'm rather excited about it. Introduced in February 12 (2 days before Valentine's Day) by New York Democratic Congressman Jerrold Nadler, the bill would "amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to eliminate discrimination in the immigration laws by permitting permanent partners of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to obtain lawful permanent resident status in the same manner as spouses of citizens and lawful permanent residents and to penalize immigration fraud in connection with permanent partnerships." This bill, if it goes into effect, would allow my partner to obtain permanent residence. We're both rather happy about this proposal. All that is needed is for his lawyer to buy us a little time. I think we need to establish ourselves as domestic partners or something. So, no more bathhouses and weekend-long orgies, I suppose. We need to show our long-term commitment, and as of now, I think we're already well on our way towards a good long-term relationship. After him, it's really my work and my ambitions that I'm married to; I've no interest in pursuing other partnerships, and the same can more or less be said for him. So, hooray UAFA! I've been writing more letters to congresspeople to either show my support or else to get them behind the bill. Already, though, my Congresswoman, Grace Napolitano, and Senator, Barbara Boxer, are co-sponsors. This is pretty exciting. Proposition 8 was a setback, but I can see shades of light peering through the darkness. |

I'm able to articulate little more than that myself. Yay indeed. After years of confusion, isolation, and a general sense of "what's the use?" Well... I don't want to speak too soon. |
There better be full penetration and money (hah!)shot, none of this soft core crap. but in all seriousness, congratulations :) |
